XC60 reloaded: Contemporary, confident, elegant – here’s what’s new

There’s a reason the XC60 is Volvo Cars’ best selling model – ever. Now it’s even better. Here are the updates that help keep it ahead of the pack.

XC60

Its popularly is largely down to the all-round luxury, quality, and safety credentials packed into an elegant, medium-sized and highly versatile SUV.

All-wheel drive as standard across all variants, the XC60 offers a choice of two engines: The 2.0 litre turbo mild hybrid petrol engine – made more efficient, smooth and responsive with a 48 volt battery; or the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) T8 – which can travel up to 89 kilometres on battery alone, easily enough for the average commute*. The PHEV is also quick off the mark, capable of sprinting 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds.

The spacious, luxury cabin is capped off with ergonomic and individually adjustable seats

Subtle refinements improve the exterior – darkened tail light surrounds, a new front grille, and three new alloy wheel types – from 19-21 inches – offset and underline the XC60’s quietly confident poise.

Internally, the ‘Scandinavian living room’ cabin has likewise been elegantly improved with new decors, inlays and upholstery, and decluttered, with the centre console refined to improve storage, and the wireless phone charger moved further forward.

The spacious, luxury cabin is capped off with ergonomic and individually adjustable seats – with Volvo Cars’ seats renowned globally as among the world’s most comfortable. Nordico upholstery comes as standard on the XC60 Plus, with charcoal and Cardamom options and heated seats as options, while leather comes as standard on the XC60 Ultra, as does a sunroof.

Technology-wise, the XC60 brings Volvo’s latest innovations into play – starting in the cabin, where the free-standing 11.2 inch touchscreen is bigger, slicker and easier to use.

Thanks to new ‘Snapdragon’ microprocessors underpinning the new generation UX (user experience) interface, the entire infotainment system is also faster and more powerful. It’s designed to help drivers more easily use key features – like maps, apps, climate controls, and 360° parking – without distractions.

The standard spec sheet includes:

● Heads up display (HUD)
● 360° camera
● Blind-spot information system (BLIS)
● Traffic sign recognition
● All-around parking sensors
● Adaptive cruise control
● LED headlights
● Four-zone climate control
● Power adjustable seats with four-way lumbar support
● Integrated booster seat
● Crystal gear selector
● Driftwood interior trim
● 10-speaker 220W sound system

● 20-inch (B5) or 21-inch (T8) wheels
● Panoramic sunroof
● Nappa leather seats
● Heated and ventilated front seats
