Minimum permitted load index and speed rating for tyres
All tyres have specific speed and load limitations. Tyres must have a speed rating that is equal to or higher than your car's maximum speed. The tyres must also have a load index that is equal to or higher than the load index that is specified by Volvo as the minimum permitted for your car’s weight.
Your tyre's specification must be at least equal to or greater than:
| Minimum permitted load index (LI) | 100 |
|---|---|
| Minimum permitted speed rating (SS) | H |
If a tyre with a speed rating that is too low is used, it may overheat and become damaged.Warning
Note
Winter tyres
Winter tyres[1] are allowed to have a lower speed rating than your car's top speed. However, if your winter tyres do have a lower speed rating than your car's top speed, you are not allowed to drive faster than the tyres' speed rating.
