Saving a new reference value for tyre pressure monitoring

The tyre pressure monitoring system needs a reference value to work from. This means that the value needs to be updated in certain circumstances for the system to work properly.

Whenever the tyre pressure is adjusted, a new reference value needs to be saved. This could be when certain changes are made, such as every time you change to wheels that require a different recommended tyre pressure. The reference value may also need to be updated when there is a significant change in the car's weight due to loading or unloading.

Even when you are handling a low tyre pressure warning and inflating to the previous reference value, you need to save the tyre pressure value again to account for any temperature related changes.

To save a new reference value, the car needs to be turned on and stationary.

  1. Inflate the tyres to the correct tyre pressure.[1]
  2. Press the car symbol in the bottom bar and go to StatusTyre pressure.
  3. Press to get to settings.
  4. Select your reference tyre pressure and press Save.

    Note

    Save button unavailable

For safety reasons, the Save button is only available when the car is turned on and stationary.

The button is also unavailable if there is a warning about very low tyre pressure in the driver display. This is to avoid accidentally saving a low value as reference. In this case, you need to inflate the tyres to correct reference tyre pressure and then start driving the car. Once the warning in the driver display disappears you can stop the car and continue with saving a new reference value.

  5. Confirm that you want to save a new value. The confirmation step is needed to avoid saving a new reference value by mistake.
This overwrites the previous tyre pressure and temperature and enters a new reference value.
  6. Start driving the car at a speed above 30 km/h (20 mph).
