Adjusting the time interval to vehicles ahead
Pilot Assist can help maintain distance between your car and vehicles ahead by using a set time interval. You can adjust the time interval using the driver support control on the steering wheel.
When you are driving with Pilot Assist active, your car will try to adapt its driving speed to that of other vehicles. You can adjust your car's general distance-keeping by adjusting the time interval to vehicles ahead using the steering wheel control. The car then manages acceleration and braking to maintain that time interval.

to the left, towards the decrease distance symbol

to the right, towards the increase distance symbol

The selected time interval appears above the Pilot Assist symbol in the driver display.

When adjusting the time interval to vehicles ahead, the number of lines will either increase or decrease depending on your adjustment. More lines indicate a longer time interval and greater general distance to vehicles ahead. Fewer lines indicate the opposite.

Make sure that you understand how changing the car's settings affects its behaviour. It is particularly important when it comes to features that affect the level of assistance the car can provide.

Adjust the time interval to vehicles ahead using the driver support control
on the steering wheel:- Move it to the left to decrease the time interval to vehicles ahead.
- Move it to the right to increase the time interval to vehicles ahead.
Your new target time interval is shown above the Pilot Assist symbol in the driver display.
Higher driving speeds may cause the general distance to a vehicle ahead to be longer than during lower speeds, even if the target time interval is the same. This is because the calculated distance becomes larger for the given time interval.Note
