Using the emergency release handle for the charging cable

If the charging cable doesn't release from the car after you have stopped the charging, you can use the emergency release handle. Never use the emergency release handle when charging is in progress.

  1. Open the boot and locate the emergency release handle on the left side.

  2. Warning

    Before using the emergency release handle, check the driver display or the charging port to make sure the charging process has stopped. The emergency release handle should not be used when charging is in progress.

    Carefully pull the emergency release handle until you feel resistance.

  3. Put the emergency release handle back into the holder.

    Note

    To avoid rattling noises in the boot, make sure to manually return the emergency release handle to the clip when you have finished using it. If you don't do this, the handle should automatically retract when the next charging cycle is started but it will still need to be manually clipped in place.
  4. Wait for about 5 seconds before unplugging the charging cable from the car.
  5. Close the boot.

If the problem persists, contact an authorised Volvo workshop.
