Powering a device with the car's battery
You can use your car's battery to charge other devices.
You can use your car's battery to power other electrical devices, such as electrical camping equipment, power tools and a variety of consumer devices. This feature is called Vehicle-to-Load[1] and allows you to transfer AC power from your car to whatever you want to charge, as long as the other device is compatible.
You can access the feature in your car's charging settings. To be able to connect your car to the device you want to charge, you need a special adaptor from Volvo Accessory. Contact an authorised Volvo workshop for more information.
Important
Before you start using the transfer feature, there are some things to consider:
- Make sure you use an adaptor from Volvo Accessory. Contact an authorised Volvo workshop for more information.
- Make sure you have read any available information about the adaptor and device to be charged before you use this feature.
- Only use the adaptor under safe conditions, avoiding rain, water or fire. Do not use the adaptor when it's wet.
- Prevent damage to the adaptor in daily use by removing dust or other substances regularly. Make a habit of checking the adaptor for dust before using it.
- Do not submerge the adaptor or its components in liquid. If you need to clean the adaptor, use a clean cloth lightly dampened with water. If needed, use a mild detergent but never use chemicals or strong solvents.
- Never use a damaged adaptor. If the adaptor is found to be damaged, contact an authorised Volvo workshop.
