Opening the bonnet

Opening the bonnet requires pulling two separate release levers and provides access to the front storage compartment. Be sure to close the bonnet again before driving the car.

Locations of release levers

Interior release lever location
The interior release lever can be found below the dashboard on the driver's side, just in front of the door hinge.
Exterior release lever location
The exterior release lever is below the front edge of the bonnet.

You need to open the driver door to access the interior release lever.

Releasing the bonnet

  1. Pull back the interior release lever.

    The bonnet opens slightly, giving you access to the exterior release lever.
  2. Pull the exterior release lever to the right.

    The bonnet releases fully.
  3. Keep holding the exterior release lever to the right and lift the bonnet by its front edge, opening it to its fully extended height.
    The bonnet stays in position.

Note

After closing the bonnet

If you see an open bonnet warning in the driver display, open the bonnet and check for obstructions before closing it again. Contact Volvo support if the notification doesn't go away.

Warning

Do not drive with the bonnet open

Stop the car immediately if there is any indication that the bonnet is not completely closed.
