Volvo Car Connect Plus

Connect Plus includes in-car connectivity to run Google services and related apps built into your car.

When you buy a new Volvo, you'll receive a complimentary 4- or 5-year period of Connect Plus1. After this complimentary period, you'll need to purchase a subscription to keep the in-car connectivity to run the Google services and related apps with unlimited data2.

 Note

If you don't purchase a Connect Plus subscription, the Google services and apps will remain downloaded and will have limited offline capabilities.

You can use your phone’s tethering feature to share its internet connection with the car.

You’ll be contacted before the complimentary period ends with the option to extend your Connect Plus subscription when it's available in your market. Until then, no action is required and it will remain free of charge.

 Note

The first complimentary periods will begin to expire in 2025, depending on the retail delivery date of your car. Only owners of cars with Google built-in from model year 2022 and later need to buy an extension of the service after this period.

Cars with Google built-in of model year 2021 will keep these services without needing an extension, as long as they are offered by Volvo Cars and supported by the car's technology and network capabilities. Volvo Cars reserves the right to reduce functionality when it is no longer practically possible to maintain full functionality.

Finding the status of your Connect Plus

You can see the status of your Connect Plus in the Volvo Cars mobile app:

  • In the Volvo Cars mobile app, go to the car tab and press Active servicesConnect Plus.

Extending your Connect Plus subscription

Connect Plus is a subscription that you will need to renew on a yearly basis.

If you cancel before the end of the 12 month period, you will still have Connect Plus for the remaining time of the subscription.

The subscription cost will be disclosed when the extension offer is introduced in your market.

 Note

In some markets there is a 14 day cancellation policy following the purchase.

Purchasing a Connect Plus subscription

You'll be notified in advance before the complimentary service period ends via:

  • Push notifications on your phone from the Volvo Cars app
  • E-mails

You'll be able to purchase the Connect Plus subscription in the Volvo Cars mobile app or via the Volvo Cars website.

In the Volvo Cars mobile app:

Sign in to the app with your Volvo ID.
Go to the car tab and press Shop.
Follow the remaining steps in the app to complete the purchase.

Via the Volvo Cars website store.volvocars.com:

Sign in with your Volvo ID.
Go to ShopConnect Plus and follow the steps to complete the purchase.

Cancelling Connect Plus

You'll be able to cancel the subscription via the Volvo Cars mobile app.

Sign in to the app with your Volvo ID.
Go to the car tab and press Active servicesConnect Plus.
Press Cancel subscription and follow the instructions in the app.

Buying or selling a car with an active Connect Plus subscription

Connect Plus is tied to the car, not to the person who purchased it. When you buy a pre-owned car with an active subscription, any remaining time on the subscription will be available for you to use.

If you sell your car, the Connect Plus subscription cannot be transferred to a new car.

When the remaining time of the subscription comes to an end, you as the new owner of the car will need to purchase the subscription to keep the in-car connectivity to the Google apps and services.
