Manufacturer's warranty
Your new Volvo comes with warranty coverage, which is transferable to any subsequent registered owner of the car, that includes:
- Components: For 36 months after the registration date, or until your new car has been driven 60,000 miles – whichever comes first – any component failure attributable to faulty materials or workmanship during manufacture will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Volvo retailer.
- Paint and surface rust: For three years from the date that the car is delivered to the first owner, any paintwork defects and surface rust attributable to faulty materials or workmanship during manufacture will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Volvo retailer.
- High voltage battery: For eight years from the date the car is delivered to the first owner or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, any material defect of the 400 volt hybrid Lithium battery pack will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Volvo retailer. The Lithium battery fitted to Volvo cars, like all lithium batteries, will experience gradual capacity loss with time and use. Loss of battery capacity due to or resulting from normal gradual capacity loss is not covered under the Volvo new car warranty.
- Rust perforation: For twelve years on all models, from the date that the car is delivered to the first owner, rust perforation through any sheet metal body panel attributable to faulty materials or workmanship during manufacture will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Volvo retailer.
For a component to be covered under any warranty, there must be a manufacturing or material defect diagnosed by an authorised Volvo retailer. Normal wear and tear or damage is not covered under the warranty.

Important warranty conditions
To maintain your warranty:
- Your car should be serviced in accordance with the Volvo servicing schedule.
- Use only Volvo-approved parts and accessories.
- Report any defects and make the car available to an authorised Volvo retailer without delay.
If you believe your car has a manufacturing or material defect
- Arrange to visit an authorised Volvo retailer for inspection as soon as possible once an issue is presented.
- The Volvo retailer will assess if the issue is covered under warranty.
- If covered, repairs will be carried out free of charge.
- If additional repairs are needed beyond warranty coverage, the retailer will discuss options with you.
Important
Only authorised Volvo retailers can make warranty assessments. Opinions from non-approved retailers cannot be considered for warranty claims.
Car hire during warranty repairs
On occasion, you may be eligible for a courtesy car if your car requires warranty repairs. If applicable, arrangements will be organised by your Volvo retailer. Retrospective claims for independently arranged hire cars cannot be accepted.
