Volvo XC60 model year 2026 - Overview
The Volvo XC60 is the company’s 5-door, 5-seat mid-sized SUV. It is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo’s advanced modular product platforms that underpin all Volvo cars in the 90 and 60 Series.
The XC60 carries the proud and confident face of Volvo’s design language, along with classic Volvo styling cues. The new air intake, with Volvo Cars’ iconic iron mark, brings a more contemporary look to the premium five-seater. In the cabin, the XC60 provides a calm and balanced environment with a blend of high-end materials in a sophisticated Scandinavian design. With smart storage, new cupholders, an improved wireless phone charger and a flexible and roomy load compartment, the interior of the XC60 is versatile and practical. The XC60 is also equipped with Volvo Cars’ state-of-the-art air-purification technology for enhanced well-being.
For exceptional car audio, the XC60 is available with the Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity system – with new speaker mesh design – which faithfully replicates music just as the artist intended, making it one of the best-sounding car audio systems.
Connectivity and infotainment
The Volvo XC60 comes equipped with the new Volvo Car UX. It’s designed to be a safe and enjoyable way to interact with your car’s central infotainment screen, more focused and personalised than its predecessor, which is further enhanced through Google Automotive Services.
The centrepiece of Google Automotive Services is the access to Google apps and services*, which offer hands-free help with Google Assistant, best-in-class navigation through Google Maps and a broad offer of native in-car apps via Google Play. This is elevated by Volvo Car Connect Plus, that provides unlimited mobile data (for in-car apps and vehicle communication) for 4 years.
For model year 2026, the XC60 was upgraded to include the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, making our existing Google Android Auto-based infotainment system much faster and much more responsive. The infotainment system in these models will be more than twice as fast as the outgoing system, with graphics generation that is up to 10 times faster.
Thanks to Volvo Car Connect, the Volvo XC60 is capable of receiving larger software and operating system updates over the air. This enables the car to keep evolving and improving over time, rather than being at its peak when it leaves the factory.
Powertrain technology
The XC60 Plug-in hybrid is powered by our latest generation plug-in hybrid powertrains that delivers 350 (T6) or 455hp (T8). It features an 18.8kWh battery pack that extends the pure electric possibilities.
Powered by the 145hp motor, the XC60 T6 and T8 provide up to 51 and 50 miles** (WLTP Combined) of pure electric range respectively – enabling more drivers to cover their daily driving needs on electricity.
With One Pedal Drive in the Plug-in hybrid versions, the driver can use the accelerator both for accelerating and braking the car: press for acceleration and lift the pedal for smooth braking all the way to standstill.
The XC60 is also available with a 48 Volt mild hybrid petrol powertrain, with an output of 250hp. The mild hybrids offer smooth take-offs and up to 15 per cent fuel savings and emission reductions in real world driving.
More details around the powertrain offer can be found in the technical specifications.
Safety and driver assistance
The XC60 showcases Volvo Cars’ focus on automotive safety: the SPA1 platform extensively uses boron steel to increase the vehicle’s strength, alongside numerous safety systems designed to protect people inside and outside the car.
The XC60 is equipped with Volvo Cars’ latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor platform –a modern, scalable active safety system that consists of an array of radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors. This platform enables the development and deployment of active safety systems, such as the detection of other road users, automatic braking and collision avoidance. Through the Pilot Assist function, it also allows for gentle driver support from standstill up to highway speeds.
